During my working life I have been an educator, a technical writer, and a web content specialist/webmaster.
As an educator I have taught mathematics, computer programming, technical writing skills/tools, and web content concepts to students, teachers, and co-workers. I welcome the use of my training skills in all aspects of my career.
As a technical writer I write user manuals, online help systems, web content, and quick references. Some of this work is as a company employee or contractor, but my skills spill into volunteer work on websites and for volunteer organizations. Having been a technical writer in many fields and working for many companies helps me to become productive quickly and to be fearless learning new tools and writing about unfamiliar software, processes, products, and organizations.
As a web content specialist I write, format and publish web content (text, graphics, navigation) using a Content Management System or website builder application. To aid in the development, design, web content gathering, publishing, and review work, I use collaboration/tracking tools.
My work experience—both paid and volunteer—blend together to make me a team player, mentor, and thinker/contributor. I enjoy learning, and I welcome challenges.
As a contractor/consultant I "hit the ground running" with companies, teams, products, and processes. I accurately estimate and charge only for the number of hours needed to do the work required and to meet the deadlines set. The fact that companies hire me multiple times is a good indicator of my work and my worth.
